SOFTWARE: BIESSEWORKS

BiesseWorks is the new system for programming Biesse machines that combines elevated performance with great ease of use. It is the ideal solution for those who are approaching numerical controlled machinery for the first time as well as for those who already have programming experience. In fact, it is organized on several levels so as to present an extremely simple interface to those who are less expert while, at the same time, allowing the expert user to access sophisticated functions. BiesseWorks is a unified programming system: operator machine interface and office CAD/CAM system. The use of a single system makes it easier for operators to learn and reduces the time required for training. BiesseWorks's open architecture allows managing several machines from a single office programming station. The working environment is fully compatible with the Windows standard to guarantee that it will be as familiar as possible to the user. The interface can be personalized based on the user's needs.

The program editor window is divided into three repositionable sections so that useful information is always visible. The editor handles multiple documents, so it is easy to copy a machining operation from one document to another.

BiesseWorks Programming of vertical, horizontal and inclined machining operations on standard and rotated faces, both linear and circular. In addition to the six standard faces, the editor can also display the linear and circular faces defined by the operator. Programming for these faces is entirely similar to programming the standard faces.

The work table graphic tooling module allows defining, even parametrically, the positions of the panel supports and blocking. It is thus possible to create parametric programs that, as the parameters change, not only adjust the machining operations but also the positioning of the work table. Tool collisions are immediately revealed by highlighting the elements involved in red. In addition to automatically generating the tooling on symmetric or translated origins, BiesseWorks also allows defining the rotation of the vacuum modules.

Simulation of the machining sequence (wire-frame), zoom and machining time calculation functions. A solid simulation of the finished piece is available in the office with the display of its shaped profiles. Three-dimensional simulation allows for a PC display of the real situation on-board the machine, thus allowing the detection of any errors even in this phase.

CAD SmartSketch integrated and personalized by Biesse to provide the maximum simplicity of use. This allows drawing any profile easily and intuitively and immediately associating it with the technological information. The CAD system replicates the same panel representation as the editor and it is possible to define machining operations by using the same dialogue windows. Machining operations defined in the CAD system are automatically available in the editor and vice versa and it is possible to modify the geometry of a machining operation by saving the associated technological information. In addition, CAD SmartSketch offers all the typical CAD functions such as positioning, "snapshots" for capturing the significant points of a profile (final points, average points, centers of circles .), and "cut," "extend" and "join" functions, and the creation of mirror-image, rotated, scaled or offset profiles.

Requires a Windows 2000/XP operating system. The minimum requirements for the personal computer are: - Pentium/Celeron processor - 128 Mb of RAM with Windows 2000 - 256 Mb of RAM with Windows XP - 150 Mb available on the hard disk To use "solid" 3D simulation, we recommend a graphics card with processor that implements the OpenGl Stencil Buffer, preferably in hardware mode. We particularly recommend cards with an on-board graphics CPU from the GeForce family manufactured by NVIDIA.
